The Washington State Community Action Partnership worked with the Coalition on Human Needs and recently came out with a report showing the high rates of poverty and lack of progress. Even though the economy in the United States is slowly recovering, there has not been a lot of improvement in lowering poverty rates in Washington. What Washington needs is more investment into programs to prevent food insecurity, poverty, and such unaffordable housing that many cannot stay in their homes. The current programs are helping, but can only do so much without adequate funding, and the proposed Congressional cuts could force them to shut down completely. Read the full report here, and visit the website to keep updated on human needs issues and how you can help.
