On Monday, January 18th, the 34th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration with workshops, rally and march will be held at Garfield High School. The theme this year is ‘We Have the Power to Make Change‘, and it is our responsibility to show up, join in discussions of social justice issues, and march through the city to honor and uphold the ideals of Martin Luther King, Jr. It was Roberto Maestas’ dream to create a community that embodied the values of a world free from poverty, racism, and social inequality, guided by Dr. King’s vision of the “Beloved Community.” Don’t let the day become just another holiday off of work – Join El Centro de la Raza at the largest Martin Luther King holiday celebration in the region. Workshops begin at 9:30 AM at Garfield High School, 400 23rd Avenue at East Jefferson, Seattle. Check out the website for the event here.
