For most students in the Seattle area, school was supposed to start on Wednesday, September 9th. However, Seattle school teachers went on strike in order to work towards postive changes in the Seattle Public School District. Seattle Education Association (SEA) members are asking for more time for their kids at recess and lunch, pay raises so they can continue to afford living in Seattle, and for evaluations not solely based on standardized testing. El Centro de la Raza stands by the teachers as they take a stand to improve education of Seattle’s youth. To read more about the strike and the SEA, click here.
