FAQ for Christmas Tree Sale

How do I pay for my tree?

Effective 12/2/2020, all Christmas tree purchases will take place on-site at El Centro de la Raza. Due to limited inventory, we are no longer offering advanced purchases or online sales. Please visit our lot at 2524 16th Ave S Seattle to view available selection. After selecting their desired tree from the lot and receiving price confirmation from staff, customers will scan a QR code to complete their purchase at the lot.

What trees do you have this year? Do you have wreaths and garland?

We have three varieties of trees; Noble Firs, Douglas Firs, and Nordmann Firs. For most households, 5-6’ trees and 6-7’ trees are the ideal size. We have very limited quantities of trees under 5’ and over 7’. Please contact Franz Perez at (206) 208-5170 to check availability. Wreaths come in two sizes, 20” ($20.00) and 30” ($30.00). We do not have garland.

Douglas Fir trees are a very popular tree. The branches are spreading to drooping and the buds are sharply pointed. The bark is very thick, fluted, ridged, rough and dark brown. Douglas firs are more dense than their counterpart firs. Their needles are dark green or blue green, 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, soft to the touch and radiate out in all directions from the branch. The needles have a sweet fragrance when crushed. They tend to dry out quickly so that is why we do not have these in stock until December 7th.

Noble Fir trees have long, thin trunks and branches that extend horizontally. The branches of the Noble fir are evenly spaced and have needles that are roughly 4-sided (similar to spruce), over 1 inch long, bluish-green and are generally twisted upward so that the lower surface of branches are exposed.

Nordmann Fir trees have lush, full, rich dark green, glossy foliage with needles a little over an inch long, and grow from symmetrically arranged branches. The branches are very strong, perfect for displaying special or heavy ornaments. The needles are longer and softer than those of other Christmas tree varieties. The Nordmann is a very durable tree with excellent needle retention.

Will I be able to select the tree that I end up taking home?

Yes. All customers will have the opportunity to select the tree they end up taking home. If you ordered your tree in advance, you will select the tree you’d like to take home at the lot from your predetermined category. We also have trees still in the netting if you would like to grab and go! You will know the type and size of the tree, but we like to call these mystery trees since you won’t know what it looks like until you get home!

Will you help me secure my tree? Will you provide twine?

Due to COVID-19 safety protocol, we are not able to help customers secure their tree to their vehicle unless they are not physically able to do so. We can, however, provide you with twine and instructions!

Where do the trees come from?

The trees are sourced from Adrian and Evencio Gonzalzez’s farm in Onalaska, Washington. They are fresh cut and pesticide free.

I already purchased a tree/wreath but haven’t been able to pick it up. How will I know when my tree is available? When do shipments come in?

We receive tree shipments on a weekly basis, usually at the end of the week. If you ordered in advance and aren’t able to wait for a new shipment, we are happy to offer an exchange of equal value or an upgrade for the price difference between what you already paid and the value of the upgraded tree.
